Texas District 31 encompasses parts of Bell County, Bosque County, Burnet County, Coryell County, Hamilton County, and Williamson County.

Texas District 31 also includes a large portion of the Fort Cavazos military installation (formerly known as Fort Hood).

- Accredited colleges and universities, including Austin Community College - Round Rock, Southwestern University, Temple College, Texas A&M Health Science Center - Round Rock, Texas State University - Round Rock, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
- Professional sports teams, including the Round Rock Express and the Texas Stars.
- Countless charming local shops and dining hotspots.
- Beautiful lakes, including Belton Lake, Buchanan Lake, Granger Lake, Lake Georgetown, Lake LBJ, Lake Whitney, and Stillhouse Hollow Lake.
- Stunning parks, including parts of the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge, Cedar Breaks Park, Inks Lake State Park, Meridian State Park, Mother Neff State Park, and Wilson H. Fox Park.
- Breathtaking caverns, including Inner Space Cavern and Longhorn Cavern.
- The Gault Archaeological site—the earliest evidence of human civilization in America. You read that right, as far as archaeologists know, human civilization in North America began in our district. Talk about taking Texas pride to another level!
In Texas District 31, I, Jack McConnell, have:
- Attended elementary, middle, and high school.
- Worked in various roles in education, technology, entertainment, consulting, and real estate.
- Lived for more than two decades.
- Voted in numerous elections.
- Advocated for the release or rescue of American hostages held overseas.
- Hiked and swam countless times at the various parks, trails, and lakes.
- Played pickup sports.
- Enjoyed and continue to enjoy spending precious hours with members of my family, who primarily reside and serve within the 31st District and surrounding areas.
Some of my favorite things to do in the 31st District of Texas are:
- Hiking the trails around Lake Georgetown and visiting Crockett Falls.
- Exploring the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge.
- Swimming at Lake Georgetown and Lake Whitney.
- Sitting on the overlook bench, reading with Granger Lake in the background.
- Watching my grandfather perform classic country music at local venues.
- Dining at Mouton's Bar & Bistro, Monument Cafe, Bluebonnet Cafe, and Dahlia Cafe.
- Visiting the Walkway of Lights in Marble Falls during the Christmas season.
- Driving around to look at holiday lights and decorations.
- Target practice at the Best of the West Shooting Range (unfortunately now closed; any new recommendations are appreciated).
- Visiting small museums, recreation sites, and state parks with my wife.
